Where did August go?

As I'm sure everyone is aware, we had a VERY busy August (and September hasn't been much calmer, lol).  Our two litters are lovely and I am fielding inquiries about puppies constantly.  I sold Howie (the only boy in the Damon/Eve litter) early because the girl who wanted him had been on the wait-list for a long time and I didn't need another boy, but no one else gets sold until evaluations at 8 weeks.  We picked Polo up from Sarah when we brought Drake home and Polo is now living the life of Ril

I need a vacay!

I really DO need a vacation, but it's not going to happen.  It continues to amaze me that every time I think I can't get any busier or nothing more can possibly go wrong...fate steps up to the challenge!  Eve and Dot are both EXTREMELY round but still happy and active.  However, pretty soon their babies will have me hopping. And as for the pups: Jack:  Honestly.  We were stuck in our crates ALL DAY yesterday.  Mom and Dad said they had to drive a long way to pick-up a puppy from Auntie

Relaxing one more day...

We had a busy month during June and July is turning-out to be busy as well.  I have three show weekends this month, including one where I will be gone overnight for 3 nights.  Happy to report that my DH is now walking fairly normally and only has to use a cane occasionally...like our 2.5 mile trek with Grandson Parker through the Lincoln Park Zoo on July 4, lol!  It was a wonderful day!  Now, onto reports from the resident pups: Jack:  Mom and Dad were really busy all weekend, but I still g

It's been a while!

You know, I REALLY thought that when I (mostly) retired I'd have all kinds of time on my hands.  I was wrong. We spent 10 hours on the road today taking Eve to her romantic vacay with Damon.  I won't do that much in one day anymore and the plan was for me to drive there, spend the night and drive back in the morning (to take a stab at cleaning the house because Susan and Dean will be here in the early evening for the weekend).  Well, as it turns-out the DH's car decided that since it hadn't

Busy Weekend

We were crazy-busy all weekend and I had to get up early Friday, Saturday AND Sunday so I made-up for it by sleeping until noon today (and then I snuck in a little nap later-on).  DH fed the upstairs dogs because he knew I was exhausted. Jack:  It got cold again and started raining so I didn't get to go outside for long today.  I barked at Mom for a while to take me for a walk and she told me to shut-up and go chew my bone.  So, I went to get my bone and Katy had it! Gus:  It's cold an

Day AFTER the dog show...I get to be lazy!

What with all the hustle-and-bustle of getting ready-for, packing-for, getting-to and participating in a show (and then packing-up and going back home), I am always exhausted on Monday and have a lazy day then.  The dogs like it because I have lots of leisure time to play with them.  Jack:  It's warming-up and I got to spend 2 hours outside on my long-line.  I caught one chipmunk and one mouse (that Mom knows of), but I spent most of it just sunning myself.  Life is good. Gus:  It's wa

It's winter again.

Yesterday it was 70 degrees outside and all the dogs enjoyed going out on the deck to enjoy the weather.  Today it's 30...for a high.  The fun never ends. Jack:  Mom and Dad let all us big dogs stay out in the kitchen all night.  With teamwork, we managed to make a break for it around 8:30 a.m.  I am now snoozing on the bed with Dad, so leave me alone. Gus:  Yep, we got to stay out all night!  Mom herded us back to the kitchen with promises of cookies, but I don't see Jack, Drake and K

Light at the end of the tunnel!

The DH was cleared yesterday to start PT today, and they think he should be able to walk normally without the boot in a month or so...which means that soon he can get back to work and out of my hair!!! Everyone has been busy! Jack:  Mom got me a new beef knucklebone yesterday, and Katy keeps stealing it from me.  Then she jumps up on a chair with it and drops it on the floor and I snatch it back.  Once she tried to "hide" it by taking it o

We are having a BRILLIANT day!

Mom:  Packed the DH into a chauffeured car to send him off to work for the day - second time in the last 3 weeks.  Yes, we can afford that much now and then because he's not spending $80-100 on gas to get back-and-forth to work every week, lol.  I feel like the world has been lifted off my shoulders...just for today.  I really think his employer should cover the cost, but they claim they can't afford it and they ARE still paying his salary and medical so I won't complain any more.  Also,

The sun! The sun!

Yesterday, we had an ice storm followed by about a half-inch of snow.  You don't know the meaning of "fun" until you have to clean the windows of a car that's encased in ice 3 times in a row - once to get the DH and I to the Dr. for our annual physicals, once when I left to go home and check on the puppies, and yet again to go pick him up.  Fortunately, by the time I went to get him things were switching-over to snow so I didn't have to deal with MORE ice forming on the windshield while d

Our first blog post, :)

Well, I have pretty-much recovered from the birth of Mona's babies, so after our vet visit today we will be having some baths and haircuts. Elle has been moved to the upstairs dog room and she's not happy.  I assume that eventually she and the Poodle boys will stop barking at each other. NaNa and the Musketeers are now in the kitchen.  NaNa is happy because she can run around the kitchen until the boys squeak and then she can get right bac
