Cato:

Hi Aunties! We went to the Big Lake today, and went Tunneling.  We haven't Tunnelled for AGES on account of the mud. :(

But today Mum followed us down there :)

This is us showing her the way

and this is the entrance

this is just inside.  Mum says the white flowers by the path are called cow parsley.

This is the open bit half way down the tunnel

and the light in the distance is the way out.

Mum always falls behind when she starts fiddling with the camera.  It takes ages.  And then we have to wait for her to catch up.

nearly there!

the yellow flowers are dandelions and buttercups

these are mainly buttercups

and that is Hawthorne, wot had all the red berries before it got really cold last year.

We did lots of sniffing and running about.  Even Tara finds the long grass a bit puffy, sometimes.

That's the lake and a REALLY interesting sniff!

Tara wanted to stop here for treats and a drink, but Mum said the bench was all wet, cos of the rain starting.

So she just took pics of the Memory Bench, which is new, and then we carried on in the rain.

This Weimaraner was HUGE and sniffed us both.  He was also very skinny!  He thought we were rabbits too, until he got close enough.

The rain was all spatty

and Mum says do you remember there was a tree with pink AND white flowers on it last year?  Well this is it.  Don't know if we have missed the flowers though, this year.

And a good time was had by all!!

Tara.....you little stinker - you have the cutest face :-)

I was worried about the tunnel thing.....I have claustrophobia but that is a neat, open one.  I would like that one too.

I have to ask though.....you don't have a problem with ticks in that long grass?

We do get ticks in the UK, some places more than others.  I've heard that there are more in areas with a lot of deer, but I don't know if that is true.  But they can definitely be a problem.

I lived (with cats) for 15 odd years in Wales, and only found one tick on Sidney.  Of course, I may have missed several!

And since having the dogs and living in this area, none at all.  But there are no livestock in these fields, which may have a lot to do with it.

Wonderful seeing the tunnel again, so pretty in there. Wonder where the pink flowers are in the white and pink bush, hope we haven't missed it this year, its striking seeing seeing the two colors together
