Cato would qualify for Mensa

Mum:

Tara found a bone under the couch this evening.

I am not proud of this, but there we are.  I run the kind of house where bones are, occasionally, found under couches.  At least it made Tara happy.

One bone. Two dogs.  Finders keepers.  So obviously Cato wasn't quite so cheerful.

It took a while, but eventually he managed to organise things to his satisfaction:  First he sat and watched Tara chewing.  Then he sat and had a think.  Then he went over to the doorway and sat down facing me.  The pressure of his gaze was quite impressive.

When I failed to produce Bone no 2, he had another little think and moved on to Plan B:  This time he did his Wanna Play barklet, with the mini Play Bow and slight hop.  So he either wanted food (already eaten), a brush (already brushed) or A Game (oh yeah!).  So I grabbed a python and started waggling it... er... wrestling for my life.

Hero that he is, he rushed in to save me from the monster and we had a good ol' tug o war, complete with growling, snarling, leaps and pirouettes.  It was an epic battle.

So epic that Tara found it irrisistable, and came to join in.

Which was, of course, exactly what Cato had intended all along.  For all the noise and bluster, Tara had moved less than 18 inches away from that bone before Cato dropped the Python, abandoned me, and swooped in like a stealth commando to scoop the bone to the safety of the hearth.   Where he is still chewing it with intensity.

Meanwhile, Tara and I played Python for at least 10 minutes before there was enough of a lull for her to notice him chewing.

She is now lying, bereft and boneless with her back to Our Hero.

I love watching them as they work out a plan and execute it to precision to achieve the end results which is the Prize.

Around here Madam will beg first, then stare, then go to the look out point on the couch and bark like she see's something out the window...which works every time, he drops his bone and she swoops in the nab it :3rd:

Good boy Cato, you are the Master on all bones :rule:

Cato:

Thank you Aunties.

It was a very nice bone.

And I think there is a new bone defrosting on the kitchen counter. :tracy:  I will get that one too.

Piffle - a piece of food under the couch.

Try this one:

Not long ago I transported a small dog from a shelter to a vet.  The crate I brought was too small so I tethered her to the front seat next to me.......She had enough leash to hop over, she was nervous and not settling down.  Eventually I got her where she needed to go and then picked up my husband and our dogs to go for a walk in the woods.  My husband got out of the car for something and I remember Shorty had hopped into the car with one of his beloved tennis balls (which he loses alllll over the place!)  While waiting for the Big Guy to come back I reached down between the front and back looking (without seeing) for Shorty's ball.  I felt not one but two round ball-sized "things".......they were cold and felt like mud or clay.  My brilliant mind quickly figures out they are not mini tennis balls.....but what were they!?!?  Yep -poop :-(  The little transport had managed to poise herself over the space between the front and back and drop a small load.........

So - a bone under the couch is not worth worrying about.

PS  I didn't tell my husband.

Marlene - :roflmao: out loud!

Jo - I give em credit for being overall ‘smart’ with repetitious things but the fact they have ‘thought’ processes just amazes me.
