Here is the recipe I used:

Cinnamon-Honey Dog Biscuits

Ingredients:

1/2 cup vegetable oil (I substituted unsweeted applesauce)

1/2 cup honey

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 egg

2 tablespoons milk

2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 375 and lightly grease baking sheet

2. In a large mixing bowl, add the oil, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, milk and egg. Mix. Stir in flour and baking powder. Mix until dough forms.

3. Place dough on lightly floured surface and knead until all ingredients are incorporated. Roll out with rolling pin to about 1/4" thickness. Cut with desired cookie cutters.

4. Place the uncooked biscuits on baking sheet and bake for 13-15 minutes.

Store at room temperature in an airtight container.

I'm in the mood for baking for Riley today, but I'm 1) not very good at baking, 2) not very adventurious, so I NEED easy/idiot proof recipes! lol.

I have read the ingredients above, but don't have everything :( What can you use instead of:

1)  Vegetable oil, will olive oil be okay?  If so, same quantities?

2)  Whole wheat flour?  I don't have this, but from another recipe that I followed on here, their recipe required Rice Flour so I bought that, and have only used it the once, so ideally, I would rather use that, than keeping buying so many different flours just for making a one off recipe :)

3)  When the recipe says "Vanilla", am I right in thinking: Vanilla Essence?

Hope to hear from someone soon...

Okay, I substituted the vegetable oil for unsweetened apple sauce, rice flour instead of whole wheat flour and everything else stayed the same.  Not sure how many these make, so I did the recipe to the letter and now Riley is going to have dog biscuits for the next three months! lol.

Wish me luck, they're going in the oven now: (Batch No.1)
