Sophie's Haven 17,464
I went on line yesterday to check out the rescue that I use to belong to and as usual i left with a broken heart. Why are people so thoughtless when it comes to animals? I know a lot of people read this site and I hope you can find it in your heart to check out these rescues to adopt a homeless shih tzu or pet of your choice. Some do not have issues, but again a lot do. Some are not that cute pet you picture yourself having they may have an eye missing, or a leg missing, somehow their ear has been cut off, scars from burns, or a misform face from a broken jaw. These are the paws that I found pictured in the rescue. They did not ask for this abuse, all they wanted was to be loved and be a part of a happy home. Beleive me when I say if you take in one of these homeless, unwanted angels they will be grateful for a second chance on life. You will watch them grow, they never forget there past but they will come to put there trust in you. Not all paws are able to recover from there past and there are special people out there that will make a home for them, one thing about a rescue is if you do adopt a paw and it does not work out for you and it can not make the adjustment to your home you can return the paw to the rescue. Some where in a rescue there is a forever home. These people have a special calling when it comes to these homeless angels. Thank God for them. Find a rescue in your area, they need help, if not fostering, but donations for vet expenses, some of these little guys need special care until they cross the Rainbow Bridge. Please avoid Craig list.......that is another horrible situtation that people put these paws in. Thank you for taking the time to read this, my 7 Forever Paws thank you. I speak for them. GMA 981
I am actually going to look at rescue sites for my next baby next year. After reading a post yesterday, I went out looking and lo and behold I found a 2 year old Shih Tzu female that was white with black markings. Just the opposite of my Bosco. I didn't get to talk to hubby about it, but if it is meant to be, it will be.
Sophie's Haven 17,464
Bless you............there are so many out there. If you go into Petfinder just for Shih Tzu's alone there are over 3,000 between rescues and shelters across the United States and that does not count the private rescues that do it from the goodness of there hearts. My last two came from a lady and her husband that take in strays and find homes for them.
GMA 981
My daughter has decided that Bosco needs a companion and sent me the link to two dogs available at our local Humane Society. One is a Tzu mix, the other is a purebred Lhapsa Apso. Then I saw this cute little Beagle mix. There was some info on them. The Tzu's name is Haggar and he's 10 years old, is good with children and other dogs. The Beagle is young and was just bought in last month, no more info on him. Bowie is described as an older gent who looks like a grumpy old man. He likes the lap and hates the kennel so he may not crate well. So my daughter is thinking about adopting one and since she lives with me now it will be a companion for Bosco. I'll let you know if it happens. OzShares 303
While my fur-baby-to-be Bailey Rose is not a rescue, I did volunteer for a local rescue and fostered newborn kittens for years. While bottle feeding every two hours was very demanding, the knowledge that the kittens would go to good homes and thrive was so rewarding. I too was so baffled by the number of discarded pets that want nothing more than to be loved. We did choose to keep one of the feral cats that was abused as a kitten and was not considered adoptable. Although she is by no means a lap kitty, she has been a welcome addition to our family and has become more trusting through the years. She will now curl up next to us when SHE wants to. I know she is grateful to have a home and a loving family to be a part of. She must like it here because whenever we have tried to allow her to go outside she quickly rushes back in the house and sits just inside the open doorway. I thinks she knows she has it good. Haggar.jpg Haggar Bowie.jpg Bowie Francesca.jpg Francesca Love the pictures...........I agree Bowie does look like a grumpy old man...........and Haggar with his sad eyes. I am a softie when it comes to these guys, I wish I could take them all in and give them a loving home. No matter who you pick as a buddy to Bosco, there will be one less unwanted paw out there waiting for a home. One thing that I learned from the rescue is when you bring a new paw home always introduce them to each other outside before bring them into the house. Let them do the smell thing, something as simple as this will not be so tramatic for them and that way Bosco won't feel threaten by a new paw coming in to his domain. Good luck with your new addition to whom ever you choose. Our shelters here sometimes have more cats than dogs.........it is a sad way of life for them. It is a rewarding feeling when you can help............I feel rewarded everyday with my guys.

GMA 981
I just went to the Humane Society's site and saw that Bowie and Francesca are no longer listed. I'm hoping it means they have been adopted. Haggar is still there and my daughter says she wants him. I admit that I cautioned her that because he is older and aging that there may be medical expenses she must prepare for. But of course you know I'd help her with everything She said she is having a hard time getting anyone to answer the phone at the facility. If we finally decide and they answer, Bosco may have a an older brother for Christmas.
Sophie's Haven 17,464
If Haggard is Blessed to become a member of your family as soon as he get's the proper care he may have a long and healty life. My Missy will be 11 this month and she has been thru a lot in her life and with our routine she is full of energy and runs and plays and when she has had enough she like me, will go chill out for a while. When we got her she was over weight and slow moving, not anymore. Hopefully Bosco will have a playmate soon.
Marlen 5,860
I'm anxious to see what will happen! But, like many of you have (wisely) told me, if it's meant to be, it'll happen!
