Pee on bed/Social behaviour

Hi,

I have a few questions concerning training. Jemica is going well in the training department. She usually does pretty well, going on her pee pad and outside with no problem. The only thing she does that I'm not sure I understand, is that she pees on my bed once in awhile. It's not always and I usually put something up on my bed to stop her from going up. I know we mix her up in the beginning of her training, so I wonder if it's because we started t on the wrong foot, or is there another reason she would do that.

The other question I have concerned the social aspect. I go on a walk with her every day, whether it's on a busy street on more of a residential area, still she fears every human we pass. She doesn't want to get close to anyone and she stops when she notices someone coming her way. I just keep walking past them, but she tries to stay as far away from them. She just doesn't want to be close to anyone. Took her awhile to get use to my grand-mother, but now she loves her. Still can't look my grand-father directly in the eye. I wonder if she's so use to just woman around that it does affect her in the department. I wonder if it's something she will grow out of. She is really better, but it's very slow going. I mean I can giver her to somebody in their arm and she won't even shake. Brought her to my work, where she survives a bunch of people. It's so frustrating to see her like that.

I would like to know that answer too....peeing on the bed. Twice as a puppy only.........

9 months later...... He decided just last week to leave a little puddle then looked around at me all ashamed..

He's always slept in our bed but lately took to sleeping on the floor where it was cooler. But has access to the bed all day..never a problem.

What gives I wonder also. He knows better but did the opposite. Hmmmmm

Often urinating on the bed or sofa (or chair) where a favorite human spends time is a form of dominance. Basically, the dog is saying, "I OWN this person and am leaving my scent here so everyone else knows it,". It is actually more common for females to do this than males, but they will all do it. Time for some NILF to establish (or re-establish) who owns who, lol!

That's what I was thinking at first. She doesn't do often but was does I often manage to make it clear it's no good. I feel like she's in a phase, always testing me to see if I would react. I don't think she's happy when she doesn't get the reaction she wants. We will see as we continue along with our training. It's been so long since I had a dog, so I'm relearning everything from the beginning. Mom and I made some mistake, but we are learning and getting there. She's more stubborn than the other dog I had around me.

Just keep at it! One trait that makes a Shih Tzu a Shih Tzu is that stubbornness - I really think they all feel they should still be being carried around on silk cushions by the Palace eunuchs, lol.
