I was wondering if anyone else out there has a neutered male who still "mounts" (I think is the correct term?). He is just over a year old and will try to mount our submissive cat, and my husbands leg(when he kneels down) and mine too on occasion... He was neutered young, at 4-5 months so I'm not sure what this is all about.... He also lifts his leg to pee on mailboxes...

My husband and I always joke that maybe his surgery didn't "take" or something! Now that I'm planning on getting a 2nd dog it has me thinking....Does anyone know if this is a type of dominant behavior? Is this any indication that I'll have issues if I decide to get a 2nd Male puppy (who would be neutered also).

My male cat, Milo, runs the show around here. Riley knows he can't hurt him (no claws) so he'll mess w/ him sometimes but I think mostly he just wants to play w/ him. It seems that he's okay w/ Milo being the boss.

Buddy does that on occasion. Never tries to hump my leg though but on occasion he will try to do my girls. All have been spayed and neutered. But he prefers his favorite pillow. :) which he humps every single day. I don't understand it. My boyfriends Yorkie likes to hump his dog bed. He does it all through the day & everyday. My boyfriend gets tired of seeing it and will holler at him and he will stop until he goes out of the room then he starts again.

Brees has mounted other dogs before, but then he gets lost and doesn't know what to do and just hops down xD

Lots of dogs do it. Sometimes dominance, sometimes just play. I don't allow it, but it's not a big deal usually.

He does it when he's in one of his playful/hyper moods usually. We don't allow it either. We always stop him and I think he's getting better about it. I can't figure out if he's doing it out of play or trying to be dominant. Hopefully out of play so we don't have any major issues w/ dominance if we get another male....

BTW, you all have such ADORABLE Shih Tzu's!! makes me want another one NOW!

Oh gosh, I hope Sassy Mae doesnt see a male dog humping. LOL She hikes her little leg and pees on tires, bushes, etc cause she saw a male dog do that.

Beau does it when he's playing with my dad's female tzu. We just assumed it was a dominance thing.

Shredder did that with his bed also even after being neutered. That went on for a while but he doesn't do it anymore, guess he just out grew it ... He's 2yrs old now ...

Lucky (neutered) humps my parent's female shih-poo when they play. He has tried humping our 6 month old (spayed) female a couple of times, but I tell him to stop and he stops. Kyshi, our 8 year old (spayed) female humps Lucky. :) Hers is definately dominance, and she only humps males, she won't try it on Maggie or my parent's female dog. Fortunately, I've never seen our Dane hump anything :welcomeani:

This is so common it's not really anything to be worried about as long as the dogs are only mounting each other (mounting your leg or arm is a "NO!!! BAD DOG!"). We had a daisy chain going on here the other day: Kelly had a litter 10 weeks ago and was humping Katy (spayed), who was humping Sidda (the Lowchen - the three are in an ongoing battle to be alpha bitch), who was humping Nikki (who is in season). Notice it was the GIRLS doing the humping? Gus (neutered) and Drake (intact) stood to one side barking at them. The baby puppies were in their pen, PJ and Na Na were confused and hid under the table and Jack decided to leave the room.

It's really nice not to have to worry about an "entertainment budget". We have a 6-ring circus at home!

Pam, have you seen the movie "Human Centipede"? (I think that's it.) Well, your daisy chain is a hint. It's NOT porno, but do NOT go out of your way to see it.

I just had Theodore neutered last month and he loves to hump his bed and two of his dog stuff toys. I have tried to tell him no. He still humps, but not as much. Thank goodness he doesn't hump people.

LOL. Some of the stories are funny. Here's mine:

Just a week after Theodore was neutered, I caught him humping. I've told him no, stop. So he did and he stayed right where he was, which to me was unusual because usually he stops and walks away. I suddenly got nervous, thinking, "Oh, my gosh! He broke his stitches!" So I picked him up just to check, and he growled. When I looked, his penis was sticking out! LOL! So I put him down and left him alone. Later, I checked him again to see if his stitches were still intact, and they were. Thank goodness, but I was scared at the time.

I understand they are going to do a part two. My daughter had a copy of it and had me watch it. Deeply disturbing! But also a new concept! >>gag<< I love horror, but this is off the charts.

Me too!! I LOVE horror (see post about convention, lol) but it really disturbed me as well, LOL. The "FEED HER, FEED HER" part...nightmares for weeks, kid you not, and there is a sequel!

Luna DONT DO IT!
