PipsMom 34,988
Commercial kibble lasts for only a few seconds on a dog’s palate. This homemade recipe makes a chewy kibble that dogs will savor and enjoy. It’s also a great kibble for dogs with sensitive mouths or as a treat recipe for families with large, well-behaved packs requiring treats in bulk. Nonstick cooking spray2 large eggs1 cup water¼ cup sunflower oil1 (15-ounce) can solid-pack pumpkin puree1 cup chopped fresh parsley½ (10-ounce) package frozen spinach, thawed1 pound ground beef (75% lean) “1½ cups rye flour1½ cups quick-cooking rolled oats½ cup nonfat instant powdered milk¼ cup nutritional yeast Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray a 12 by 18-inch rimmed baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray. Whisk the eggs, water, sunflower oil, pumpkin, and parsley in a large bowl. Add the spinach and ground beef to the egg mixture and stir to combine and break up the beef. Add the flour, oats, powdered milk, and nutritional yeast and stir until combined.Transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet and press or roll to a ½-inch thickness.Bake for 1 hour, then remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking sheet. To create a firmer kibble, turn off the oven and allow the kibble to remain in the oven with the door closed for an additional hour. When cooled, cut into 1-inch squares with a sharp knife. “DAILY PORTIONDivide into two meals, or serve one-half the daily portion per day with one-half the normal amount of dry food.10-pound dog 20-pound dog 40-pound dog 60-pound dog 80-pound dog²∕³ to 1 cup 1¹∕³ to 1²∕³ cups 2¹∕³ to 3 cups 3¹∕³ to 4 cups 4 to 5 cups” .
