Bathing your puppy

Recommended Posts

I read that they only require a bath once a month. however, she gets dirty and is still learning to potty train so she gets poop and pee under her feet and I bathe her  like once a week. is this ok? and what is the best shampoo to use for shih tzu's

Oh I think they can use a bath once a week, at least my little guy Buddy (10 weeks)

We shampoo him once a week right now and then gently blow dry him. Honestly, he could use it twice a week, he is so stinky!

I forget the name of the shampoo, but I bought one that didn't have fragrance and said it was hypoallergenic

thanks for your input...  she needs a bath too and I use baby shampoo - trying to see if there is something else I should use instead.

Oh yes, once a week is preferred with the appropriate shampoo for puppy's that doesn't dry out the skin or hair....your nose will usually tell you when it's been long enough....... When he gets much older he can go to two week baths unless unusually grubby lol

There are options to clean inbetween baths with a rinseless shampoo's and dry  (example Poo on feet)   http://www.chrissystems.com/shampoos--conditioners/rinseless-dog-and-cat-shampoos.aspx

Example on this web site...their shampoos can be bought online easy enough. And you can look at some of the articles on the site and learn further. We are always here to help you with any question you might have every stage of life....... Shih Tzu shampoo will be the one for a ( Fine Coat.)
